Spiritual Musings

I have been contemplating what to write about over the last few weeks and I have so many ideas that I just don’t know where to start. So this post will be about many thoughts, ideas and experiences that have been rattling around in my head for a while. The Savior

Our Savior of the world. If you are interested in any of my art work please contact me.

Sensitive Em-path

I have been going through a lot of health challenges lately and at one time the symptoms were so foreign to how I usually experience pain and discomfort that I thought I was dying. lol  I know this sounds a little dramatic but let me explain.  This all started about three weeks before the August 2017 eclipse.

I experienced dizziness beyond anything that I have ever experienced before. Yes, I am a blonde but this was way beyond that. I couldn’t even roll over in bed at night without my whole room spinning around me. When I would go for a walk I looked like someone who had a few to many, if you know what I mean. Along with the dizziness came the nausea, and head aches and body ache beyond belief. YUCK! My whole life was off-balance. I had a constant depression and hopelessness. I even went to the doctor for blood tests that came back normal.

I was a Sensitive Em-path on overload and I needed to get grounded. This was a time for me to really tune into my body. I was very hypersensitive and was suffering from psychic exhaustion. Time to set some boundaries.

  • Take a salt bath

  • Empty my mind through meditation. (I had not been doing this lately) Lots of prayer and quiet time.

  • Get back to being in the moment.

  • Don’t be so open at this time.

  • Lots of self-care.

  • Time to say NO thank you to anyone that exhausted me.

  • Knowing what is going on around me. Sometimes I fail to look at the news because of the effects that it can have on me but being totally away from it left me in the dark.

Part of being a sensitive em-path is feeling and experiencing almost everything around you. So once a dear friend said to me that the earth was tipping, it made total sense why I was feeling like I was. Once the eclipse passed my body started to slowly fall back into alignment.

Now I am feeling much better and with a wonderful new understanding about how my body is so connected to everything and everyone around me.

Another thing that I have learned is that there is ALWAYS a gift at the end of a trying time or conflict. That’s what is so great about this life. We are always learning if we choose to see it. There are always great blessings to be had during and after a trial. Always a new beginning.

Have any of you experienced anything like this before? I would love to know and compare notes.

Staying in the Present

The Spirit has been teaching me a great deal lately and one of the most poignant lessons I am being taught and have not mastered yet is living in the present. Do you ever drift off to the past and try to think what you could have done different? I catch myself doing this quite often. When you have been married as long as I was (35 years) my history is full of things that I would like to have changed but can’t. Dwelling on the past does nothing but sadden me and sometimes anger me and I don’t want either of those things effecting my daily life.

Then there are the times when I am trying to figure out my future and then I become fearful and frustrated that life is not turning out like I want it to. Living in the future for me does nothing but give me a lot of anxiety and frustration.

Now the trick is how to live in the moment or present. When I live in the present it is easier for me to listen to what the Spirit has to say. When I’m in the present it’s like I have a constant dialogue with the Spirit.

Living in the moment—also called mindfulness—is a state of active, open, intentional attention on the present. When you become mindful, you realize that you are not your thoughts; you become an observer of your thoughts from moment to moment without judging them. Mindfulness involves being with your thoughts as they are, neither grasping at them nor pushing them away. Instead of letting your life go by without living it, you awaken to experience.

Cultivating a nonjudgmental awareness of the present bestows a host of benefits. Mindfulness reduces stress, boosts immune functioning, reduces chronic pain, lowers blood pressure, and helps patients cope with cancer. By alleviating stress, spending a few minutes a day actively focusing on living in the moment reduces the risk of heart disease.

Mindful people are happier, more exuberant, more empathetic, and more secure. They have higher self-esteem and are more accepting of their own weaknesses. Anchoring awareness in the here and now reduces the kinds of impulsive and reactivity that underlie depression, binge eating, and attention problems. Mindful people can hear negative feedback without feeling threatened. They fight less with their family and friends and are more accommodating and less defensive.

You can become mindful of any moment just by paying attention to your immediate experience. For example when going for a walk or a hike take the time to look at all of the details that you see in a particulate scene.

Dad's Owl

This photo was captured by my Father years ago. He was a man who truly lived in the moment and enjoyed every minute of it.

Yesterday I took a walk around my neighborhood determined to look for things that I have never noticed before. What I found was magical. I saw contrast in colors from the yellow of a tiny wild flower to the chippiness of a fallen log. It was beautiful and I came home with some wonderful pictures not only in my camera but in soul!

I will be making this a regular practice and practice is what it will be for me for a while until I make a good habit out of it.

Try looking through the eyes of a child. My granddaughter Izabella.

Some things that I know for sure.

  • I am leaking power when my mind drifts to the past. Could of, should of . . .
  • Same is true of looking too far a head and hoping the future will provide with certainty.
  • Don’t wander in a place that has no substance.
  • The past and future are illusions. Whenever you leave the present moment, you’re disconnecting from your inherent power.
  • Neither past or future can give you what you need. Now is all that counts.
  • Miracles will appear as if by MAGIC in the perfect timing of the Lord.
  • Lighten up! Be child like! See the world through the eyes of a child. Wonder. Don’t take life to seriously right now.
  • Have fun, be playful and laugh! Go to the park swing on a swing, swim. What made you smile as a child?
  • I’m surprised how everything seems to fall into place when my inner child leads the way. All I have to do for a reminder is to watch my grandchildren at play and what makes that smile.
  • Life is meant for play as well as for work, for laughter as well as tears, for celebration as well as focus.
  • Our creator wants us to see our lives sparkle through our days. Smile, enjoy, each breath.

Angel of Light

White Angels

Are you a White Angel? How do you know that you are a White Angel? Anyone that is reading this is a White Angel or an Angel of Light.  Your lives are very important to this world and just the fact that you are here and reading this shows that your light is shinning.

A White Angel is a very special spirit that has chosen to come into this world at this very special time. You are so full of light that people are either uncomfortable around you or are totally enlightened by your presence. Have you ever had someone totally dismiss you for what you are saying or just does not want to have you as a friend or be around you? These poor souls cannot tolerate your light and so they leave your presence.  Have you ever had someone come up to you to say hi and just linger? They enjoy your peaceful countenance and light that you are sending to them unbeknownst to them? You are feeding there spirit.

I have had this happen many times and it is so fulfilling to me as a light giver to know that I am doing what I am here for.

As a White Angel or Angel of Light it is very important for us to not hid our light under a bushel basket but to let it shine from the nearest mountain for all the world to see.  This is a joyful time of a new beginning to make life changes so that you can shine your light brighter and farther than ever before. The world needs all of its light bearers to shine, to out shine the darkness that tries to over take the world.

Lay down your fears and just go for what ever the Spirit is telling you to do. Remember that if it is a good thought then it is from God. No need to fear it will be the right move for you to shine your light. If you don’t know how to shine your light simply ask our Father in Heaven and he WILL answer you! All things are possible!

  1. Thanks for such an inspirational post! Doing what one loves really resonates with me, esp. since I have been thinking about getting back to doing some art work. Like you, I love all the different art forms. It’s been a while I’ve done anything artistic since I have been busy with three jobs. However, I have been hoarding art supplies with every 55% coupon I get from AC Moore; now I just have t get organized and find the time.
What you said about being mindful is so true. Actually, it’s the new buzzword in education that was spoken about at the in-service I went to before my classes begin at the community college I teach at.
Loved your words about the Angel of Light, too! Thanks so much for your inspiration!!!

    • Dear Angel of Light! You are one busy lady. One thing that has really worked for me is to set up all of my art supplies on a table, then it is ready anytime I get the urge to work even if it’s only for five minutes. I’m not big on leaving things out but it really does work. Have a wonderful weekend. Save some time for you!
      xoxo Jo
